Guest Speaker: Bill Popp

Coach Popp’s main points were about the NAIA, the AAC, and the addition of football. He said that there are about $1.7 million in athletic scholarships. He also talked about what goals coaches and schools have to reach recruiting wise. We are now going to be using a program called Front Rush to help with recruiting. He said that the school spends about $1.5 million on operations such as travel and equipment for athletics each year. The last things that Coach Popp talked about were the changes that have went on here since he has been here. He named the new sports that have been added and he talked about the addition of football and what will change with that.  Questions that I had were answered. They were: Q: Will Reinhardt be getting a GA program? A: Eventually we will. Q: What all is expected to be done by next fall? A: New athletic building, field, and the resident hall. Sport leadership that I learned was what all goes into being an athletic director and that it does take hard work to accomplish the goals that you have for yourself. I need to focus on building my resume, contacts, and experience. By doing this it will help me in the long run of potential job choices.
